Discount stores worth knowing about
A lower price can mean last season’s color, excess inventory, a cosmetic blemish, or a product made specifically for an outlet. This list explains what each store or program offers and what to check before you order.
How this list was chosen
Most links below lead to stores whose main purpose is selling discounted merchandise. A separate section covers an employee benefit program that provides access to retailer discounts. The directory excludes ordinary retailers with a sale page, luxury flash-sale sites, closed businesses, and sites whose ownership or policies could not be verified. A place on the list does not mean every price is a bargain, so it still pays to compare.
01
Shoes, clothing & outdoor gear
These stores focus on discounted, past-season, or outlet-exclusive merchandise rather than a temporary sale section on a full-price website.
Joe’s New Balance Outlet
Past-season & outlet
A New Balance-owned outlet for discounted shoes, clothing, and accessories. It is especially useful when a familiar New Balance model or width appears at a lower price.
Keep in mind: Sizes and colors are limited, and items marked Final Sale cannot be returned.
6pm
Clearance
A discount-focused shoe and clothing store operated by Zappos. Inventory includes marked-down footwear, clothing, bags, and accessories from many brands.
Keep in mind: Compare the exact style elsewhere and check the return terms before ordering.
Sierra
Closeout & discount retailer
An established discount retailer for outdoor clothing, footwear, gear, pet products, and home goods. Its assortment changes as closeout inventory arrives and sells out.
Keep in mind: Selection is inconsistent by design, so a replacement size or identical item may not remain available.
Steep & Cheap
Past-season & clearance
A discount-only outdoor store owned by Backcountry, with clothing and equipment for hiking, cycling, camping, snow sports, and other activities.
Keep in mind: Technical equipment should be evaluated for fit and intended use, not chosen on discount percentage alone.
Nordstrom Rack
Discount retailer
Nordstrom’s discount store for clothing, shoes, accessories, beauty products, and home goods. The entire storefront is built around discounted merchandise.
Keep in mind: Some products are purchased specifically for discount stores; clearance return rules may be stricter.
J.Crew Factory
Factory-store collection
A separate factory storefront offering lower-priced casual and work clothing for adults and children.
Keep in mind: Most merchandise is designed specifically for J.Crew Factory, so compare quality and materials—not only the stated comparable value.
Gap Factory
Factory-store collection
A factory-focused Gap storefront for lower-priced everyday clothing for adults, children, and babies.
Keep in mind: These styles are not necessarily regular Gap products that were marked down.
Banana Republic Factory
Factory-store collection
A discount-focused storefront for workwear, casual clothing, and accessories with Banana Republic styling at lower factory-store prices.
Keep in mind: Treat the displayed comparable value as a reference, not proof that the item previously sold at that price.
02
Tools, cookware & everyday goods
These stores specialize in factory blemishes, seconds, surplus inventory, or short-run deals on practical products.
Direct Tools Factory Outlet
Blemished & reconditioned
The factory outlet for Ryobi and selected other tool brands, selling factory-blemished and factory-reconditioned power tools, outdoor equipment, batteries, and accessories.
Keep in mind: Read the condition label and applicable warranty; reconditioned and blemished products are not the same.
Home & Cook Sales
Factory seconds
A dedicated Groupe SEB sale site featuring All-Clad, T-fal, Rowenta, and Krups products, often with cosmetic imperfections or packaging damage.
Keep in mind: Sales are generally final, images may not show the individual cosmetic defect, and processing can take 10–15 business days.
Woot
Daily deals & closeouts
An Amazon-owned deal store with rotating offers on electronics, computers, home goods, tools, sports products, and clothing.
Keep in mind: A reference price may not be the prevailing price elsewhere. Check condition, warranty, and the current market price.
Meh
Daily deal
A deliberately small daily-deal store centered on one featured offer at a time, sometimes with additional limited events.
Keep in mind: The narrow selection encourages impulse purchases; buy only when the item already fills a real need.
MorningSave
Limited-time deals
A rotating deal store for household goods, beauty products, small appliances, electronics, and other general merchandise.
Keep in mind: A recurring shipping membership is offered during checkout. Review the selection carefully before enrolling.
SideDeal
Closeout & limited-time
A sister site to Meh and MorningSave offering a broader assortment of short-run deals on home, technology, outdoor, and miscellaneous products.
Keep in mind: Brand, condition, warranty, and return eligibility vary by offer.
UntilGone
Closeout & overstock
A discount-first store with changing offers on electronics, home goods, tools, outdoor products, and general merchandise while quantities last.
Keep in mind: Inspect the seller’s stated condition, warranty, shipping cost, and return window for each product.
03
Employee discount programs
This is not a store. It is a workplace benefit that brings offers from many retailers into one place.
Perks at Work
Employee discount program
A free employee-perks platform offering discounts across categories such as electronics, appliances, groceries, travel, fitness, and entertainment. Members may also earn WOWPoints on eligible purchases.
Keep in mind: Access and available offers depend on the employer. Compare the final price with public sales and other retailers before buying.
04
Refurbished & open-box technology
These sites can reduce the price of electronics, but condition grades and seller responsibility matter more than the advertised percentage off.
Back Market
Refurbished marketplace
A marketplace dedicated to refurbished phones, computers, tablets, game systems, and appliances sold by approved third-party refurbishers.
Keep in mind: Back Market is the marketplace, not the product seller. Review the refurbisher, battery expectations, return window, and warranty exclusions.
Tech For Less
New, open-box & refurbished
A long-running discount technology retailer selling computers, monitors, televisions, accessories, and other electronics in several condition grades.
Keep in mind: Confirm whether the individual listing is new, open-box, or refurbished and what warranty is included.
VIP Outlet
Overstock, open-box & refurbished
A reseller focused on discounted returned and excess merchandise, including electronics, appliances, tools, toys, and household products.
Keep in mind: Condition varies substantially, so read the grade, included accessories, return policy, and warranty on the exact listing.
Secondipity
Returns & excess inventory
A Liquidity Services store selling returned, refurbished, and excess inventory from consumer brands and large retailers.
Keep in mind: Do not assume every product is new; use the listing’s condition description and return terms.
Gazelle
Preowned technology
An established buyer and seller of previously owned phones and other consumer technology, with devices inspected before resale.
Keep in mind: Cosmetic wear and battery capacity vary. Compare the final price with manufacturer-certified refurbished options.
Before buying from a discount site
- Match the exact item. Compare the model number, size, materials, included accessories, and condition—not merely the brand name.
- Calculate the delivered price. Add shipping, membership charges, return postage, restocking fees, and tax.
- Read the return terms. Check the deadline, final-sale status, warranty provider, and who pays when something is defective.
- Pay with protection. A credit card generally provides stronger dispute rights. Avoid sellers demanding gift cards, wires, payment apps, or cryptocurrency.
Store operations and policies can change. Verify current terms with the retailer before purchasing. Inclusion is not a guarantee of the lowest price or a problem-free transaction.
